The Bus Bar
Okay I’m biased; the Bus Bar is one of my favourite drinking holes. I’ll be honest, I’m a sucker for ordering drinks from a VW and for me it’s all about music - good house music.
The Bus Bar is the brainchild of Ary Craike, a Kuta Lombok local. Ary is a respected artist in his own right who has also developed a t-shirt company called
BLUFF, which we proudly stock at our What Sup? Lombok shop. Ary also runs an art studio which acts as a support network for young Kuta locals.
The Bus Bar just recently celebrated its 2 year birthday, and what an amazing 2 years of growth they have had. Starting with just 1 speaker, some boxes
of bintang and some enthusiastic crew, the Bus Bar has developed into a 2nd home for many who live here and is one of the most popular nightlife spots
in Kuta Lombok.
Open from 6pm to late 7 days a week, start your night with arguably some of the best oven baked New York style thin crust pizzas paired with classic cocktails,
all priced for the budget traveller. Order from the boys behind the bar who have the biggest grins in town, perch on the recycled tyre stools and enjoy
those newly installed fans whirring above, and great graffiti covered walls. A very clever use of basically a covered carpark! Wednesday and Saturday
night are the DJ nights, with the crowds rolling in after Happy Hour at Milk Espresso finishes. The resident DJs are Ary, Severin and Rikard, and most
often a guest DJ or 2, including your author who occasionally dusts off his headphones and gets behind the decks too! Things really heat up by 10 or
11 for a real corker of a night!
The calibre of the DJs and quality of the music which straddles the house, tech house genre, usually laced with heavy dose of funk and soul is as good
as any of the top bars and clubs you could find in Bali, London or New York. Guaranteed smiles, good time sweats and flip flop dancing. Yes! This is
clubbing like we love, no aggression just good times and friendliness all round!
NIghtlife in Kuta is adapting to the rapidly changing landscape of the town and while there is a little bit of something for everyone, the Bus Bar is a
must and will soon become one of your preferred watering holes too. So when you visit South Lombok, and you have had a great day surfing or stand
up paddling or just beach hopping, be sure to stop in meet the always smiling attentive crew of the Bus Bar and join us for our weekly dose of dancing
